We purchased a 4U RM41416B, with a mini SAS backplane a few months ago. We have it configured with 8 SATA drives. No matter what raid controller or cables we tried, we can not get any raid controller to recognize any hard drives. We have tried 7 raid controllers and 14 SAS cables. None of them ever see any drives. What can we do?

Please check with your cable supplier to make sure that normal SATA connectors are compatible with HDD. According to SATA/SAS specification, HDD adopts different pin assignment comparing to host side. If your cable is not designed correctly, your host card can not detect any drive.
